Using a cognitive behaviour approach and the science of ethology, learning theory and physiology, we can help with most behavioural problems owners might have with their dogs, cats and horses.
DOGS
• Aggression (towards people and other dogs/animals)
• Problems with handling (grooming, walking on the lead, recalls, etc)
• Fears, anxieties and phobias (of people, other dogs/animals, the car, being groomed, vets, fireworks, thunder, etc)
• Separation anxiety
• Introducing a new dog into a household with existing dogs/cats
• Inappropriate toileting
• Reduction in stereotypical behaviour/vices (including pacing, tail chasing, lick granulomas which are self traumas caused by chewing, etc)
• Pica
CATS
• Aggression
• Inappropriate urination/defecation
• Anxiety
• Reduction in stereotypical behaviour/vices (over grooming, etc)
HORSES
• Loading
• Aggression (towards people and other horses/animals)
• Problems with handling (associated with grooming, being lead, tacked up, clipping etc)
• Fears, anxieties and phobias (of people, other animals such as dogs, pigs, cows, etc)
• Avoiding and overcoming separation anxiety
• Introducing a new horse to a herd
• Getting horses through periods of box rest
• Reduction in stereotypical behaviours/vices (box walking, weaving, cribbing, etc)
• Pica
We also provide services to rescue centers and breeders:
Rescue centers
We can help rescue centers put steps in place to modify the behaviour of their 'problem' dogs/horses that they are struggling to home. Once rescue dogs/horses are in homes, we can help the new owner ensure that the dog/horse starts to gain trust in them and his new environment as quickly as possible.
Breeders
We can help breeders do their utmost to keep pregnant bitches/mares and her puppies/foals as stress-free as possible (this often includes educating the owner on the important role the father would play in the wild). Puppies/foals that are born stressed because of learning that took place while in the womb (trans-placental learning) - and remain stressed in early life - suffer emotionally and behaviourally. Such long term stress can lead to poor health and even a shorter life span.
