Wellness focused Holistic The holistic view on disease is that disease is an imbalance in the whole. Disease manifests itself as symptoms in the body and mind. To only treat the symptoms, without paying attention to the underlying disharmony, will not lead to Wellness. If you can identify the underlying disharmony, then you can get to the root of the problem. Symptoms become valuable messengers when viewed this way. They tell us when the balance required for Wellness has been lost. Symptoms warn us that we need to make some adjustments if Wellness is to be regained. If the symptoms are ignored or suppressed then we could expect the disease to continue, or perhaps bigger problems to emerge later on. Integrative In veterinary medicine, integration means allowing and expecting various animal healthcare professionals to find ways of working in harmony. It means communication and collaboration. It means sharing a common vision and goal, even though approaches, skills, products and services may differ. It's a team approach. As a client, you, your animals and your family are viewed as an integral part of the Holisticvet team. Assessing each animal individually, we shape a health plan as unique as the animal itself. Integrating the best of modern veterinary science with the appropriate complementary approaches, we aim to effectively treat the symptoms, as well as the root cause of the disease. There are many strategies and therapies that are well suited to the treatment of animals. They all have their place as long as they are effective and carried out by suitably trained professionals. Our integrated approach involves collaborating with a team of animal healthcare professionals, all with their own area of expertise. Working closely with your family vet, we may incorporate herbal medicine, acupuncture and physical therapy alongside conventional medicine and surgery. We may advise on nutrition, lifestyle, environment and relationships. Further diagnostic tests or referral to another veterinary specialist may be appropriate in some cases. Other animal healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists and behaviourists, may also be needed. Working as a team, collaborating together, integrating the various solutions, we progress together on the journey to Wellness. Best evidence based We believe that, ultimately, all forms of medicine will be seen as representing an individual choice. A choice for Wellness. |
