FACILITATOR
Dr Jimmy Symmonds BSc BVSc
After studying Zoology at the University of Cape Town, Jimmy studied Veterinary Medicine at Onderstepoort, University of Pretoria. In 1997 he moved to the UK were he undertook further training in Veterinary Herbal Medicine and Acupuncture. After an initial period in conventional veterinary practice, Jimmy set up a referral veterinary practice in 2001, in Oxford, UK, offering herbal medicine and acupuncture to cats and dogs. In 2004, Jimmy co-founded the Natural Animal Centre in Oxford, UK - a referral centre for horses, dogs and cats offering complementary therapies and rehabilitation.
In addition to his veterinary work, in 2003 Jimmy created Integrate CPD - a company providing continuing education for animal healthcare professionals in all aspects of integrated and holistic healthcare. Integrate runs a number of pioneering courses for vets in the UK, including courses in in Veterinary Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture and Nutrition. From 2004 to 2008 Jimmy developed the herbal medicine course curriculum, and co-taught on the foundation and certification courses. In 2006, Jimmy launched the Herbs for Dogs workshops for dog owners. The workshops focus on using herbs for first-aid and promoting optimal health in dogs. In May 2006, Jimmy co-founded the European Veterinary Herbal Medicine Association (EVHMA) which now has over 40 members from across Europe. In September 2007, Jimmy co-founded the British Association of Veterinary Herbalists (BAVH) - representing vets in the UK trained in the use of herbal medicines for animals. Jimmy has also acted as a consultant to a number of herbal companies on product development.
In early 2008, Jimmy left the UK to settle in Cape Town where he was born. He encourages a natural, common-sense approach to animal health and wellbeing that is based on modern science and ancient wisdom.
ACCOMMODATION
The workshops are non-residential. For those wishing to stay locally overnight, a list of local accommodation is available on request. This information will also be sent out in the confirmation pack on registration.

Workshops are planned for different centres across South Africa and we will email you the dates as soon they become available.
